A strategic research proposal for a personalised smart magazine, curated using machine learning techniques & artificial intelligence.

Chain Reaction aims to be a categorically curated digital space, which is personalised in accordance to a user’s likes, interests, check-in locations, personal projects, music preferences, travel histories and the likes - a collated summation of the user’s online presence. Through this, it creates a curated platform of limited but relevant news and activities which automatically updates with the latest happenings on a daily basis.
The objective of the platform is to simplify content consumption and make mornings easier for the "ever-scrolling" millennial.

The fast-paced, content-obsessed millennial lifestyle demands seamless digital solutions, with worldwide communication being easier than ever.
Online portals have become a saturated digital marketplace filled with excessive data, which not only has us browsing through heaps of unwanted subjects but has also substantially reduced the quality of content being churned out by brands, companies and influencers alike.
Chain Reaction aims to bridge this very gap.
Core Concepts
The fundamental concept of the project revolves around relevant personalisation using three distinguished channels of digital content, namely - social media (like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Linked.In, etc.), service providers (like Uber, Spotify, Citymapper, Eventbrite, etc.) and content forums (like online magazines, publications, blogs, websites, etc.)
The app aims to follow the user's activities across various forums and record their activities in terms of likes, location check-ins, keyword usages, pages followed, click rates and digital services used.
The statistical information acquired will then be analysed and mapped through an AI algorithm to create personalised interfaces. The AI system will be learning user behaviour with every digital interaction, hence refining and mapping worldwide data in real time for the user to browse through.

The platform draws inspiration from the era of meticulously curated print publications, which would act as a summation of monthly happenings in the designated field. As these print publications become a concept of the past, Chain Reaction aims to take the ideology behind such curated content into the millennial market.
The platform will serve as a one-stop-destination for art, design and creative lifestyles. From global design weeks to DIY challenges - Chain Reaction aims to filter creative content in regards to the user’s personal interests.

The idea is to declutter and simplify the present norms of content production and encourage light, ‘on-the-go’ reading.

As we move towards advanced machine learning techniques and alternative reality solutions, it’s become imperative to look at future businesses with a tech driven perspective. The next decade will see a shift from handheld screens to more immersive experiences. The ‘Internet Of Things’ will be the order of the day as artificial intelligence becomes the household help.
However, currently consumers are apprehensive about such invasive technologies as privacy remains a major challenge for web-based solutions. Chain Reaction acts as a bridge between present tech curation and future innovations.
The platform integrates two major tech solutions, namely - artificial intelligence (for behavioural learning and curation) and augmented reality (for an immersive visual experience).

How It Works
As the platform employs a AI system, it is imperative for the self-learning software to learn and in turn map the user’s interests with respect to curating the content. This is established by following the user’s activities on various web-based platforms installed on their smart devices.
A week-long gestation period is thus employed for the AI system to wholly learn the user’s likes and preferences for a seamless content experience.

The homepage for Chain Reaction is complete with a limited set of twelve stories/articles which are refreshed daily. These top twelve stories are carefully personalised by the AI system and are unique to every individual user. An additional feature of a scrapbook is introduced for user’s who want to engage beyond the limited twelve top picks.
This said feature is a list of several stories/articles which have been recognised as relevant by the algorithm employed. Finally, the last feature added on this page is that of a “to-do list” which not only involves the user’s daily chores but also acts as an “upcoming events” page.

As an interactive feature, a smart map will be introduced which will again be a personalised experience for every user based on their likes and interests.
Eateries, stores, activities etc. will pop up on Chain Reaction’s map feature, with the help of geo-tagging and smart location mapping.
